Surf chic outfits at its best: Cynthia Rowley

American fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has been a surfer for more than 15 years. She says she’s utterly obsessed with surf but also enjoys wakeboarding, waterskiing, scuba diving, snowboarding. And because Rowley couldn’t find a wetsuit she liked, she decided to create her own wetsuit and swimwear, a surf chic outfits at its best.

From school art to fashion

Cynthia Rowley was born in Illinois. After graduating from the School Art Institute of Chicago, she moved to New York to venture into fashion. From the very start, the young designer meant business; for her first fashion show, which happened in her apartment, the young designer sent invitations to several movie stars, artist and fashion editors and even invited Andy Warhol. She didn’t know any of them, and of course, none of these people showed up!

Surf chic outfits and chic lifestyle

Fast-forward 30 years and Cynthia Rowley has become a significant global lifestyle brand that includes women’s wear, beauty, jewellery, bags, shoes, tech accessories, office supplies, fragrance, eyewear, home furnishing, fitness and swim and surf collections. She is known for her signature colour block dresses and bright colour outfits.

Long before athleisure became a thing, Rowley was already designing functional pieces that were so beautiful you could wear them outside your gym class too. She has been making cool fitness apparel since 2010. So creating surf chic outfits is just a consequence of her entire lifestyle.

Besides being extremely comfortable, her swimwear is feminine, colourful and fun, with eye-catching florals or geometric prints.
