1. Double Oscar Glory — and Counting

If in 2017 she was already an Academy darling with an Oscar for La La Land, Emma made history again this year, winning her second for Poor Things. Both films came from collaborations with Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, whose surreal style seems to bring out the very best in her.

2. Shaving Her Head for Bugonia

Stone x Lanthimos partnership is still going strong. Bugonia, their fourth film together, premieres this October, and Emma didn’t just play the part; she shaved her head for real. No wig, no CGI. Method acting meets high fashion.

3. A Saturday Night Love Story

Emma’s love for Saturday Night Live goes way back — she’s a true superfan. But the real magic happened behind the scenes, where she met writer-director Dave McCary. Fast forward, and the two are married, co-parenting their four-year-old daughter, Louise Jean, and running their own production company, Fruit Tree.

4. The Sweetest Oscar Speech

When she picked up her most recent Academy Award, Emma thanked her daughter for turning her parents’ lives into “Technicolour.” It was the kind of line that instantly melted the internet, and solidified her rep as Hollywood’s most relatable A-lister.

5. Fashion’s Favourite Friendship

For more than a decade, Emma has been inseparable from Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s creative director. He’s dressed her for countless premieres, awards, and events, but more than that, they share a genuine friendship. Oh, and fun fact: it was the late, great fashion designer Alber Elbaz who first played matchmaker between the two.

6. From Arizona to Hollywood

Born in 1988 in Scottsdale, Arizona, Emma’s stage debut came at just 11 years old in The Wind in the Willows. It was the first step in a career that would soon outgrow her hometown.

7. Early Films That Caught Critics’ Eyes

Her early work in Superbad, The Rocker, and The House Bunny may not have been box office sensations, but critics noticed. TV Guide’s Ken Fox even credited her with “lighting up” a film that would have been pretty dim without her.

8. The Breakthrough: Zombieland

In 2009, Emma scored big with the horror-comedy Zombieland, which became her most profitable film to date. The same year, she appeared in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and A Christmas Carol, showing just how versatile she could be.

9. Rising Star Recognition

Easy A was the film that catapulted her into the awards conversation, earning her a BAFTA Rising Star nomination and a Golden Globe nod for Best Actress. The rest, as they say, is history.
