Why you should go to Puerto de Santa Maria in Spain.

TravelWatchJune 09, 2023

Spain is a popular place to spend your summer holidays. However, Spain still has unique places for you to visit that go far beyond Ibiza, Mallorca, and Costa del Sol. Searching for that special place, Notorious was in Cádiz, Andalusia, to visit Puerto de Santa Maria. Located in the heart of the Bay of Cádiz, Puerto (a short name for the connoisseurs) is a summer destination that combines gorgeous beaches, jet-set and history. And that combination is why you should discover Puerto this summer.

Fuentebravía Beach, the address of the smart set

This is the place you want to spend your summer. A fine white sandy beach with turquoise blue water, located in an enclave called Nuestra Señora del Mar. This is a private condo with luxurious villas, surrounded by a private park and a Who’s Who list of neighbours

We stayed in the Sotavento houses in El Manantial, an exclusive urbanisation with the most spectacular view and direct access to the beach. The days were split between relaxing, pampering our bodies on the beach and socialising with the smart crowd neighbours. We also had time to explore the history of the conquests of Alfonso X of Castile. But while drinking a “tinto de verano”, a popular Spanish drink, we had the idea to make this post and share with you all the tips on two perfect houses for the summer you deserve.

If Paradise Had an Address It Would Be House Sotavento 9

Sunset at Sotavento 9 House in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain.

Sotavento 9, is a 250m2 architectural tour-de-force located on a 1100m2 plot above the beach. The house has a modernist style and is furnished with designer pieces. But apart from being beautiful and majestic, the infrastructure is really functional. Meaning air conditioning in the whole area, three double bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The house also offers a maid’s room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a utility room. And you can welcome your guests in the spacious lounge with a large terrace on the beach, facing a spectacular infinity pool. The terrace is furnished as a living room from where the guest has an elevated 180° panoramic view over the Bay of Cadiz. To the northwest is the port of Rota, and to the southeast is the old town of Cadiz. The west-facing house allows you to observe and enjoy the most beautiful sunsets. But when it comes to sunbathing, the house offers a pristine lawn, a sun terrace, and a pool house with its kitchen. The house has a garage for two cars.

House Sotavento 7, Here You Are in Heaven

With typical Andalusian Architecture, Sotavento 7 has a pristine lawn directly on the beach. Have a look at the house’s video on Youtube.

Sotavento 7 is an elegant classic southern Spain villa with five double bedrooms and four bathrooms. Typical of Andalusia, the house has a patio decorated with jasmine and bougainvillaea. And on top, the spacious lawned garden with ornamental plants faces directly out to the sea. Guests have an elevated panoramic view over the Bay of Cadiz.

The home infrastructure combines a full kitchen, a dining room and a generous living room with an open fireplace, although the house is fully air-conditioned. Outside, you will have storage space for pool chairs, sports equipment, and garden tools. The house also has a garage for two cars.

We went to Puerto de Santa Maria in May, but both houses are available all year round. They can be rented with or without staff. And if required, a Range Rover Discovery is also available to rent. The resort is ideal for those who value privacy and security.
