IG Inspiration: what to wear in January, fashion’s boring month

Updated at 10.01.23 – After several months of cold weather, we’re looking forward to spring and don’t feel like buying new winter clothes now. As a result, many don’t know what to wear and end up donning the same looks repeatedly, making January the most boring month for fashion and style. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Here are some outfit ideas and inspiration from Instagram to refresh your winter looks without having to shop in January unless you want to, of course.

Dinner for Two
To liven up January, you can host a bit of an informal dinner. So, give a second life and refresh your favourite pullover with the help of one or several brooches. But wear the brooch in a modern way for extra oomph. Gather your knitwear on your waist and pin it with the brooch. What a great inspiration from Instagram. With this outfit idea, you can wear your old sweater with a totally new silhouette in January.
Running Errands
If you need to run errands but run out of outfit ideas and don’t know what to wear in January anymore, check out this Instagram inspiration. Open your wardrobe and try new colour combinations. Have fun pairing clothes you already have; the bolder the colours, the better. As we are seeing here in the streets of Paris now–where Notorious is doing a gap year :), all French girls have off-white trousers in their wardrobe. So, pair yours with green colour like influencer Anna Borisovnaon did with the Sezane jacket. Find out which colours suit you best here.
Zoom Meeting
By now, you’re more than an expert on looking good for Zoom meetings, aren’t you? You know you must focus on the upper part of your body. So focus on the collar of your shirts. This January use and abuse of the turtle neck to create a modern layering.
Walking the dog
An easy way to refresh your winter outfits is by adding a rubber boot. Remember AW22-23 Chanel runway with Wellington boots paired with bouclé skirts or trousers? There you go. Wear your galoshes with skirts or Bermuda-skirt like super stylish Portuguese influencer Sofia de Moser Leitão. Or tuck your wide-legs trousers into your boot and walk your pooch like a cool Parisian fashionista.
Office outfit
Blazer and trousers always work for the office look. But take advantage of January to freshen up your work look and go for an all denim outfit. The concept of the suit is the same, but much more modern and innovative. You can also replace the blazer with a buclé jacket, for an even more modern look. Combine with chunky boots if the office is casual. And if your work requires more formal attire, wear it with a slim ankle boot.
