Men’s Street Style at Fashion Week A/W 19 Classic, Rock&Roll or Dandy?

During Fashion Week, all eyes are on the fashionable Instagrammers and fashion editors who flock to Paris, Milan, London and New York. That is because women and men’s street style is almost as important as what we see on the catwalk, if not more, to know what trends we’ll be wearing next season.
Men’s street style has become as exciting as women’s since there is great freedom in men’s fashion nowadays, and maybe they have to thank it partly to the Pitti peacocks, who are famous for dressing up to the nines in a super Dandy style to go to Pitti Uomo, in Florence. Actually, this has become such a thing that many of the dandy peacocks posing around the venue don’t even attend the men’s fashion trade show; the fake show-goers just gather at the Fortezza da Basso, looking busy on their phones, while hoping to be photographed for the Sartorialist or some other Instagram and fashion magazines.
Here are the main men’s street style fashion we’ve spotted during the last Fashion Weeks, from stylish classic looks to colourful athleisure, all is possible.
Cool overlaying
These men surely know their overlaying; a turtle neck or t-shirt under a shirt and pullover or a jeans jacket, and a sleek outwear on top looks effortless and oh-so-cool. Beige and check coats are trendy among men right now. To earn some extra coolness points, wear snakeskin boots like the ones we saw in Milan.

Classic and timeless
With these classic men’s street style looks, a man never goes wrong. It is elegant and cool at the same time. Add some lovely shades with green lenses, and you’re good to go.

Athleisure and neon
The combo blouson and hoodie goes perfectly well together, especially if you choose to wear neon yellow or orange to brighten up your day. You can pair it with tailored trousers and Chelsea boots or jeans and kickers for a more relaxed look.

Rock & Roll
As the Rolling Stones sang, “It’s Only Rock & Roll, but I like it“. Both the classic and über-cool black leather pants, worn with a white shirt, blazer and a scarf, or a more daring men’s look like the black leather jacket mixed with different animal prints are pure glam rock street style.

Leopard
Leopard print is becoming popular in men’s street style too. Whether it is only a detail like a coat’s lapel or a pullover, the big cat was quite popular in Milan during Fashion Week. All three looks below show leopard paired with beige outwear and black pants, daring yet classic.

Hats and Fur
For the more exuberant men who like to compete with the peacocks for the photographers’ flashes; big look-at-me hats, fake-fur scarf or pink outwear were their choices at Milan Fashion Week. Although it’s not my personal favourite, who said men’s fashion couldn’t be fun?

Dandy
The famous Florentine Pitti peacocks and their close cousins, the hipsters, migrated to Milan in their best dandy outfits, but they were clearly outnumbered. Are they maybe becoming an endangered species?
