When you are unsure whether an outfit is chic or tacky, just ask yourself: “would Kate Middleton wear that?” Rightfully so, the Duchess of Cambridge is a fashion style inspiration for many, from McQueen to Topshop, each outfit she wears is just perfect.
The mother-of-three is very good at choosing the right look for each occasion, and she’s not afraid of wearing high-street brands or the same outfit more than once, which we think is a very good example and inspiration on how to recycle your looks. When travelling abroad, she always makes sure to pay homage to the country she’s visiting. In France, she wore Chanel for the first time, when in Canada, she wore a hat with a Maple leave, the country’s national symbol, and in Poland, she looked stunning in a cocktail dress by Polish designer Gosia Baczynska, who called her the “Tsarina of the Polish fashion scene”.
Besides the big names, the Duchess also likes to introduce us to small labels or new emerging talents, doing a great service to British designers, like the luxury fashion brand Goat. Anything she wears becomes an instant hit because of the “Kate Effect”.
Keep scrolling down to find out more about Kate’ favourite designer and high street brands that she wore in 2018 and will probably continue wearing this year too:
The Duchess is a pro in mixing high and low. When it comes to basics, Zara is her go-to label. We’ve seen her wearing Zara blazers, blouses and cute summer dresses, and all #replikates are quick to get the look.
Kate looks stunning every time she wears McQueen. She has entrusted the British designer Sarah Burton, McQueen’s creative director, with her wedding gown, which was gorgeous and flawless, and since then, the Duchess has chosen the British label on several occasions. From beautiful dresses to chic coats and jackets, Kate just loves McQueen and so do we!
Kate has several classic dresses designed by Reiss and every time she appeared in one of them, they sold out immediately. David Reiss said that when she wore the Shola dress while visiting the Obamas, the label’s website crashed because of so many visitors wanting to buy the dress!
The famous wrap-dress Diane von Fürstenbeg created is one of Kate’s darlings. She has several of the super flattering jersey dresses.
The Italian label is Kate’s choice for coats. She has several elegant winter coats.
Another perfect place to get all the basics the Duchess loves so much for your capsule wardrobe. Topshop’s polka dress was sold out in no time after Kate was seen wearing it.
How many times have you seen the Duchess wearing those classic nude pumps? It seems to be her favourite label for heels. Her wardrobe is filled with several L.K.Bennett dresses too, we especially liked the spotted pussy bow dress she wore.
