Dior x Chanel powder – Our editors made the test

November 6, 2018

Winter is coming! The hotter days are gone, and with them, your sun-kissed complexion. But luckily, rosy cheeks and sun-glow freshness are not bound by season anymore. You can achieve luminously and even skin by wearing good powder makeup.

Our editors tested Dior and Chanel powders, two top products, and here is what we found out.

Dior Forever Extreme Control

Dior Extreme Control is a long-wear foundation that minimizes the appearance of pores and shine, leaving your skin even and matte. It comes in 12 shades, from very light beige to dark brown, to suit every skin hue. Dior compact powder offers medium to high coverage, and on top, the compact foundation has SPF 20, which blocks out both UVA and UVB. In addition, Dior comes with a sponge applicator to blend the powder.

Chanel Les Beiges Powder

Chanel Les Beiges is for light makeup that gives you luminosity and a radiant complexion. Even if you have sensitive skin, you can use it, and it comes with SPF 15 to protect you from damaging sun rays. You can choose between six shades of beige and use the darker hues if you want to extend your summer look for a bit longer. Use the crescent-shaped brush to apply the powder all over your face and to model contours with the edges of the brush.

Chanel x Dior and the winner is…

Although the Dior Forever Extreme Control gives you a flawless complexion, we found it to be heavier and not as natural-looking as Chanel Les Beiges. In addition, Dior’s sponge becomes dirty, and you have to wash it quite often, which can be a bit time-consuming. On the other hand, Chanel’s brush makes the application more manageable as you can use a smaller amount of powder.

In terms of cost, Chanel Les Beiges is slightly less expensive and comes with more powder than Dior Forever Extreme Control. Chanel contains 12 grams of powder and Dior 9 grams.

But, all in all, we found both powders good, the main difference being that Chanel Les Beiges is more suitable for natural makeup. The powder gives you a more translucent, lighter and fresher look. And Dior Extreme Control gives you better coverage of pores and imperfections. We are like the french girls who prefer less makeup and a natural look.
