Edward Enninful had been appointed new Vogue’s UK editor-in-chief in place of Alexandra Shulman, who stepped down in January after 25 years.
The announcement surprised everybody since the most observers were expecting another experienced and power female for the job. Edward Enniful will be the first male editor in Vogue’s 101- year history, and the first black editor of a mainstream British style magazine.
Apart from being a bold and brave choice, the 45 years old Enninful, former creative and style editor of W magazine has enough baggage to take over the position; he worked as a model, stylist and he was for years contributing editor at the US and Italian Vogue.
The fashion community is enthusiastic about the news:
“Congratulations to @Edward_Enninful new editor of British Vogue! This is going to shake things up” – Vanessa Friedman, NYTimes fashion director.
“Today history was made”- Naomi Campbell
“…forward-thinking, innovative, commercially astute and true revolutionary when it comes to his ideas on what fashion should be” – Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council.

We are looking forward to Vogue UK September issue!
